Side note: I <3 Smilebox. Especially since Hallmark.com charges for all their good e-cards now :P Smilebox rocks my socks. (Wow that really rhymed)
Planning my own birthday parties has become a grand tradition for me. Ever since I was turning ten and got one of the American Girl boxed parties ("Pajama Jam") that I planned for *months.* I must say the best party that I've planned was my twelfth; a Harry Potter party that included moving portraits (thanks to our video camera), owls (yarn puff-balls with eyes and beaks), wands (sticks from our backyard with sparkly pipe-cleaners wrapped around them) and quidditch (on skates...okay that didn't go so well...try to skate while keeping a broom between your legs...also the snitch got lost and we never found it...I guess that means the game's still going today...). I thought it was pretty spiffy for a twelve-year-old. ;)
And while my party this year will have a touch more sophistication... who really cares? Parties are about having fun right? I think adults should often step back and take themselves less seriously.
So anyway, I'm excited to turn 22 and hopefully it'll be the best of both worlds--being a well-developed, happily married adult, while not giving up the fun and excitement of being a kid. Or glitter, tutus and tiaras. Can't ever give up those.
Final side note: My sweet parents gave me a gift certificate to go out to sushi so we're doing that on my actual birthday :D! Soooo excited for a romantic sushi night with my stud-muffin!
