A Simple, Healthy Meal

Tonight I made soup.  It rocks, if I do say so myself.  Only problem is, I never measure anything.  The cool thing about soup, though, is that you never really have to.  Just don't over dump the salt until you've tasted.  I consider that the only rule for soup ;)  So here, for your pleasure:

Suddenly Sellers' Grain, Legume and Veggie Soup

1.    Fill a pot with:

    • A bunch of water
    • A bunch of mung beans (or whatever beans you like.  I use mung bc they're good for reducing bad heat in your body which I need with my skin condition.)
    • A bunch of pearled barley
    • A bunch of lentils

2.    Set said pot to boiling.

3.     After a little while of the beans and grains boiling add:

    • A bunch of frozen lima beans (Google Chrome doesn't think "lima" is a word.  It kept insisting I capitalize o_o)
    • A bunch of frozen mixed veggies
    • A bunch of quinoa
    • A few heaping spoonfuls of beef flavored Better than Bouillon or bouillon cubes (or use beef broth + some water at the beginning instead of just water)
4.    Sometime while those are cooking add:
    • A *lot* of onion powder
    • Quite a bit of salt (but wait to go overboard until you taste)
    • Garlic powder to taste
    • Italian seasoning to taste
    • Black Pepper to taste (not very much)
    • White Sesame Seeds (this is not too important, we just had them already and I wanted to add extra healthy :) )
    • A splash of soy sauce (I added this bc it needed an acid to off-set the taste.  You could probably add a splash of vinegar or lemon juice with similar results, depending on your preference)
5.    Cook until everything is... well, cooked ;D

6.    Enjoy! (while trying not to burn your tongue like I always do :P)

I made my soup really chunky, but you can make yours as thin or chunky as you want.  Isn't that the great thing about soup?  You can add whatever the heck you want in whatever broth you want and it will almost always come out great.  Just be careful with the salt. :)
